We are currently looking to recruit a Purchasing Manager to head up a busy Purchasing team in Sheffield. Main Duties

* Maintain records of goods ordered and received
* Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies and interview them in order to determine product availability and terms of sales
* Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment
* Prepare and process work orders for the internal process of products
* Control purchasing department budgets
* Manage the day to day activities of the team, ensuring effective leadership, direction and motivation
* Provide effective people / performance management of the team, ensuring daily contact, effective supervision, performance management and training & development
* Recruit, select, train, monitor and manage team personnel
* Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
* Analyse market and delivery systems in order to assess present and future material availability
* Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures
* Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials
* Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers
* Represent the company in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers
* Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding bids
* Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, equipment, machinery, and supplies
* Establish, develop and maintain excellent work relations with all key stakeholders - internal and external
* Negotiate group contacts for utilities
* Report on waste packaging requirements and maintain the records
* Support group companies with sourcing requirements when requested to do so
* Visit suppliers and attend trade shows as required

Successful Candidate

* Strong analytical skills with excellent standard of numeracy to analyse facts and figures
* Competent project / time management and organisational skills
* Excellent communication / interpersonal skills to interact successfully at all levels
* In possession of excellent relationship management and procurement skills
* Persuasive with good influencing and negotiation skills
* Ability to make responsible decisions
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
* Strong relationship management skills
