XCL Management are excited to announce that one of our leading clients are looking for experienced Estimators / Senior Estimators to join their growing business.

The successful candidates will ideally have experience in New Build, Refurbishments, Maintenance and energy sectors. You will work closely with the Operations and Business Development teams to lead the bid process and ensure that tender deliverables are produced in a timely and effective manner. Key accountabilities will include:

• Interrogating design options and ‘value’ solutions, and if appropriate, identify the attractiveness of a project based on sound estimating principles
• Reviewing tender documents and submission requirements, ensuring all financial information is identified and provided and accurate compliant design proposals are included
• Agreeing engineering and planning key methods, outputs and plant selection
• Extracting elements from the tender documentation to be sent to suppliers/subcontractors to obtain quotations for including in the estimate, clearly indicating what is required and covering all relative contractual and general preliminary conditions
• Coordinating the preparation of preliminary and general expense pricing, including plant schedules and risk assessment
• Preparing tender settlement papers and carry out any belated adjustments as a result of tender settlements
• Production of Management Information relating to cost and tender submissions
• Providing considered responses to customer questions including post tender queries
• Carrying out value engineering exercises in conjunction with bid team members
• Managing customer contact, presenting tender proposals to customers and contributing to customer meetings during the tender process
• Carrying out periodic Tender Health Checks and formal risk reviews to ensure that the identified risks are mitigated as far as possible in tender submissions
• Carry out measurement and take-offs, pricing and entering the system
• Inputting into continuous improvement on bids including, presentation media, producing strategy papers for Senior Management to provide guidance on project pricing and the continual development of the cost management systems and tools

The ideal candidates will have a proven background in Estimating, ideally with a main contractor and will have a proven ability to manage multiple projects accurately and in a timely manner. You will be able to demonstrate an ability to develop and maintain productive stakeholder relationships, have strong numeric and analytical skills, be commercially astute and demonstrate an ability to manage costs. Strong IT skills are essential and experience of using Conquest would also be advantageous.
