REED Engineering are working with a leading engineering company.

Job Summary
The post involves technical support and guidance to manufacturing as part of the Long Products support teams both for routine production and additionally the development of new products and processes. The development will involve introducing new alloys and improving existing ones manufactured by the company.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

* Processing Orders and enquiries including technical contract and specification review, manufacturing route generation and assignment and the generation of any necessary quality and method control documentation.
* Monitoring manufacture of product and risk assessing/initiating improvement trials as appropriate in a controlled manner and evaluating the results and implementing changes.
* Responding to specific production and customer problems as required.
* Developing the manufacturing routes for products new to the comapny and ensuring their satisfactory transfer to routine production including liaising with parent technical function and customers.
* Working as part of the Long Products support team to optimise product quality, costs and delivery performance.

Skills, Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements:
* Batchelor's Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science or equivalent.
* A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a relevant industrial environment with demonstrable experience within the aerospace, oil and gas or power generation sector.
* A solid understanding of the physical metallurgy of steel and nickel based alloys allied with metallographic and mechanical testing knowledge.
* Demonstrable experience of hot working processes.
* Demonstrable experience of OEM customer quality systems.
* Knowledge and application of improvement tools and techniques.
