We have an exciting opportunity to get started at the grass roots of our new Nursing Home opening in Orpington in summer 2017! As part of this exciting new project, we are looking for enthusiastic chef’s to join our team in order to be the frontline of our beautiful new luxury nursing facilities.

This new home, which is a part of One Housing, has been launched with the aim of developing a service attuned to the individual needs of each resident, and a place where they are proud to call home. This flagship service will be a 75 bedded luxury home offering the highest levels of support to its residents through personalised Nursing, Dementia and Residential care. This is a unique opportunity that will allow you to take the lead and shape the future of the dining facilities within the home.

Principle Outputs and Responsibilities
• To display exceptional leadership by providing a positive motivational work environment, supporting and communicating with employees as appropriate and demonstrating a professional approach to management.
• To oversee and provide direction for all day-to-day operations in the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.
• To schedule and co-ordinate the work of the kitchen brigade to ensure that food presentation is technically correct, and of outstanding food quality
• Interact with residents and use customer feedback, satisfaction survey results and the monthly Food and Beverage meeting to drive forward service.
• To work in conjunction with the Head Chef in developing and continuously improve the Food and Beverage/Fine Dining Experience for our residents.
• Maintain the safety of self and others at all times, and report any accidents or dangerous occurrences immediately to the Home Manager

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Experience of working as a Chef within a Fine Dining or 4/5 star restaurant (or Nursing Home)
• Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery (awarded by ASET and City and Guilds) or 706 1/2
• Knowledge of catering for the elderly and the importance of nutrition and fortified diets where appropriate.
• Staff Scheduling, stocktaking, product ordering and accountability
• COSHH ‘Control of Substances Hazardous to Health’ trained and HASSAP aware
• Strong good communications skills both written and verbal
