Estimator – Rail and Civil Engineering

Location – Barnsley

Salary - £45000 - £65000 + Excellent benefits

My client provides a diverse range of specialist construction and engineering services. They create and maintain assets for both public and private sector customers in the specialist sectors of rail and engineering. Due to continued and sustained growth they are looking for a series of Estimators in the rail and civil engineering sectors.

Key Tasks

The key tasks and responsibilities are, but not limited to:
• The effective registration, control and administration of tender documentation
• The preparation and management of tenders from receipt of documents through to delivery
• The presentation of tenders to senior management at tender review meetings
• Liaison with the Supply Chain team in respect of placing supplier / subcontractor enquiries
• Technical and commercial appraisal of construction labour, plant, materials and temporary works
• The effective analysis and pricing of risks
• The preparation of tender submission documents
• The preparation of estimating reports
• Providing assistance to proposals and contract management functions

You as a person

• Possess a comprehensive contracting and estimating background within a commercial / industrial construction environment
• Possess an understanding of the construction process including the importance of innovative solutions
• Ability to coordinate a multi-disciplinary Bid Team when required
• Have an analytical approach , able to understand & follow good estimating procedures, be well organised, self-motivated and able to work alone or within a team
• Good communication skills for all levels
• Must be IT literate, particularly with MS Word & Excel
• A working knowledge
