Our client is a mixed secondary school in Orpington, Bromley, looking for an apprentice to join their team.
You will be expected to:

- Check and maintain the school`s IT resource for safe, effective use by pupils and staff.
- Provide basic technical support in line with the school`s IT support service definition.
- Provide staff training in the effective use of IT resources.
- Provide system support for the school MIS package.

As an Apprenticeship Infrastructure Technician, your job includes:
Software:
Install and test new software.
Make software available to appropriate users.
Ensure the anti-virus software is installed, kept up-to-date and working properly on all stations.
Share files as required by staff for pupil and teacher use.
To deploy system images to workstations.

Hardware:
Check new computer equipment on arrival and install as appropriate.
Maintain computer peripheral equipment.
Setup and deployment of computer hardware around the school.

Schools Information Management System (SIMS):
Adding\ Managing users and administering access rights in SIMS.
Fault finding in SIMS, running fixes and patches where appropriate.

Financial Management System (FMS):
Adding\ managing users and administering access rights in FMS.
Fault finding in FMS, running fixes and patches where appropriate.

Library Computer System (Oliver):
Troubleshooting issues that may arise.
Managing users.

E-Learning Systems:
Troubleshooting issues that may arise.
Ensuring that user accounts are created and kept up-to-date.

Examinations:
Setting up and monitoring software for examinations.
Infrastructure
To setup and configure switches as required.
To plan and deploy small cabling projects.
To troubleshoot basic wired and wireless networking issues.
To troubleshoot basic server support issues.

Backup and Recovery:
To perform restores of files when requested.

Documentation:
To develop basic project plans and deployment strategies.
To record all installation and configurations with the appropriate documentation.
To update existing documentation where required.

CPD:
To ensure that personal development is maintained.

What experience and skills do I need?
You don`t need loads of professional experience in IT. However, you`ll need at least five GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above including Maths, English and IT / Science.
