Job Description: Senior Network Engineer / Network Consultant

Location: Surrey / Hampshire

Role: Permanent

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver complex technical projects
  • Define technical direction (where appropriate) and agree with sponsors/ client management
  • Produce and maintain high quality technical documentation
  • Provide technical guidance to team mates where required
  • Deliver informative, well-organized presentations both internally and externally
  • Interface professionally with external clients

Skills Profile:

The experienced Senior Network Consultant is responsible for the development of network design and architecture standards, vendor evaluation and documentation for the design, implementation and support of all data network technologies. The role requires at least 5-7 yrs experience as an Engineering Consultant with expertise in: advanced Routing (OSPF, BGP, MPLS), Switching (Layer2/3), Quality of Service (QoS), Load Balancing (SLB/GSLB), Security (FW/IPS/IDS) and Multicast (PIM, DVMRP), DDI (DNS/DHCP/IPAM) and SDN/NFV technologies.

The selected candidate will also be familiar with MPLS architecture and design, network management; experience with technical product evaluation, new product certification, strong written skills for technical design and implementation documentation and has performed significant design work for data centres. A good knowledge of IPT and TDM technologies, Intrusion Detection (IDS), vulnerability and penetration testing and threat mitigation is also required.

The Network Consultant must be competent with a variety of vendor technologies including but not limited to Arista, Cisco, Silverpeak, VMware, F5 and Meraki. The selected Engineer will be CCNP certified or have equivalent experience across the technologies detailed above. Candidates without a CCNP will be considered if they possess at least 5-7 years equivalent experience working with network, security and wireless technologies.
