Network Architect

Role Description

The Network Architect is responsible for designing fit for purpose Network Solutions to support our clients’ business objectives. The Network Architect will have Technical Design Authority responsibility and will be required to collaborate with business stakeholders and customer representatives to understand and translate business requirements, into appropriate technical solutions to meet both business and commercial needs. The role will involve occasional travel in and around Hampshire and Surrey.

Candidates are expected to have demonstrable large scale Network Architecture experience, combined with good consulting skills and an understanding of how network technologies impact on and are impacted by other IT infrastructure technologies.

The role reports into the Group Technical Director and is key to ensuring timely delivery of strategic infrastructure initiatives. The Role will also require the ability to work with a number of 3rd party vendor and suppliers as well as various internal technology teams. The role will require the candidate to work with enterprise and solution architects to define infrastructure to deliver and support large scale retail applications across the UK and central Europe.

Successful Candidates will:

? Have significant real-world Network Design Experience, holding or working to CCIE level.

? Be able to translate customer business and technology requirements that can vary in detail and produce high quality network solutions, at both high and low levels of detail.

? Be able to deliver designs (LLD and HLD) to defined standards, often against challenging timescales

? Be able to present your ideas and solutions in a clear and concise manner

? Provide input to technical designs provided by other technology groups - a level of "cross-functional" technical knowledge is highly desirable.

? Be able to implement designs and plan change processes, as well as being available outside of core hours where required

? Provide direct, credible and authoritative interaction with colleagues and the customer alike

? Actively contribute to continual service delivery improvement.


Be a subject matter in all things Networking including:

? Routing (BGP, MPLS, IPv4/IPv6)

? Switching (Cisco Nexus)

? Security (Palo Alto, Juniper, Checkpoint)

? With partners including; Silverpeak, Nutanix, VMWare, Arista, Softlayer, Canonical

? Application Delivery & Load Balancing (F5) into e-commerce environments using SAP

? SDN/NFV (emerging technologies)

? Cloud (AWS, Azure, Openstack)

? Network Monitoring and Analysis
