Senior Property Counsel
Senior Property Counsel
£44,608 - £52,479 DOE
If you are seeking an engaging and varied position where you will play a vital part in keeping a ground-breaking and nationally loved charity afloat, this is the role you’ve been waiting for.
The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. We’re now looking for a Senior Property Counsel to join our Legal Team at the RNLI headquarters in Poole.
This is the ideal role for a trained and qualified legal professional with a significant background in legal property work to take on a new challenge in the not-for-profit sector with our amazing charity.
As the Senior Property Counsel, you will enable us to undertake a wide variety of property management, acquisition and sales activities to support our increasing needs and maintain our lifesaving service.
Be it acquiring land for a new lifeboat station, selling existing legacy properties, maintaining and adding to our lifeguard towers on beaches or housing our incredible heritage collection, you’ll act in a senior advisory capacity to make sure our endeavours are successful.
You’ll develop a strategic vision and plan for our property portfolio, including acquisition, disposal and management, and will be our organisational oracle regarding all property matters and legalities.
The property we own or have been bequeathed plays a major part in our assets and enables us to carry out our vital lifesaving activities. And considering we launched our lifeboats nearly 9,000 times last year, it is critical that we have the right property, in the right place to ensure we can continue to make the 23 rescues that we made every day in 2016.
Your role will also involve:
- Managing the Legal Property Team, as well as a caseload of work
- Carrying out a wide range of commercial and residential property-related legal work
- Ensuring compliance with the Charites Act, regulators and various jurisdictions
- Considering and providing advice on developments, property disputes, planning and legal strategy
Interested? To be considered, you will need:
- A law degree and professional legal qualification
- Substantial post qualification experience in property related issues
Enthusiastic and attentive to detail, as the Senior Property Counsel, you’ll also need great communication skills, a natural leadership style, the ability to prioritise effectively and a team player mentality.
Please note, the closing date for this role is the 24th July 2017. Interviews are scheduled for the 15th, 16th and 17th August 2017.
Our staff and volunteers have been saving lives at sea without prejudice for nearly 200 years. We respect and value diversity of background, skills and perspectives within our teams, and consider it essential to help us deliver a world-class lifesaving service. We are an inclusive organisation and welcome applications from everyone. In addition to having the skills needed for the role, we also look for applicants who share our commitment to living our RNLI values (trustworthy, courageous, selfless, and dependable), and helping us work towards our goals of halving drowning in the UK and Ireland by 2024. This involves a growing commitment to preventative action, using our expertise to work in partnership with communities locally, nationally and internationally to prevent drowning.
