Commercial Manager (Contract Packing)
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Contract Packing you will manage all aspects of key contract packing 'blue-chip' accounts here at Refresco Beverages UK.
This is a dedicated contract packing commercial role that is customer orientated, acting as the face of Refresco to our contract packing clients.
This role supports the delivery of Refresco’s strategic objective: to profitably & sustainably grow Refresco’s contract manufacturing business, so that it increases market share of Refresco’s business portfolio, by growing and developing profitable incremental business with existing clients and developing business with new contract packing clients. Of course you will achieve this through building and maintaining great client relationships.
Refresco have invested significantly in our Contract Packing capability and capacity in recent years, and with your commercial and business development expertise, combined with your attitude of proactively seeking new commercial opportunities you will, as Commercial Manager, play a pivotal role to to ensure we meet our contract packing business objectives over the next few years.
You will need to build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders - production planning in Supply Chain, manufacturing, technical (food safety & quality) and Finance.
Your key performance indicators as a Commercial Manager, managing co-packing key accounts, will include:
- Delivery of contracts;
- Quality of service;
- Delivery and management of projects for your clients.
In essence, as Commercial Manager (Contract Packing) you will ensure Refresco delivers an excellent and professional service to clients, also helping clients and Refresco fulfill their contractual responsibilities and agreed procedural obligations.
You will need to have experience of working in a similar role in commercial or account management within Food & Drinks Manufacturing, FMCG or Pharmaceutical industry sectors. This is an important management role in Refresco and as such you will need to have 5 years or more experience of working in these industry sectors. Knowledge of the 'manufacturing industry' culture is essential.
You have an innate ability to analyse and interpret data and pull out the key opportunities from such data.
Your natural ability to build strong relations with people will mean you can display strong career progression within a commercial function in your career to date.
Preferably you are a degree holder in a business or commercial related discipline.
The nature of the Commercial Manager (Contract Packing) role and the Refresco business means you will be at an advantage if you have worked in large companies with similar business models - supplying multiple clients with multiple products, with many different types of packaging.
You will need to be a pro-active self-starter, highly articulate and persuasive with excellent communication and influencing skills . Our business is fast paced and you will need to be resilient with an ability to bounce back from set backs and find solutions to issues displaying flexibility when required with both internal and external customers.
Refresco UK are not seeking only a 'Commercial Manager' however. You will be career minded and ambitious and we want to recruit someone in to this role who will be the next Head of Contract Packing or perhaps a role in Supply Chain or Commercial (Retail).

Refresco Beverages UK based Bridgwater , Somerset, employs 850 people and we run four factories producing circa 700 million litres per annum, our target is a billion litres by the end of 2018, and we are well on target to achieve this goal. We work with all the leading UK retailers including Tesco, ASDA, Morrison's and Sainsbury to produce their private labels and with branded customers such as Innocent, Ocean Spray and Um Bongo.
Refresco floated publicly on the Euronext stock exchange in March 2015. In July 2016 we announced the acquisition of Whitlock Packaging in the US, our first foray in to the US drinks market, adding 900 million litres of drinks per annum to our production.
