MS-UK is looking to recruit an experienced Accounts and Subscriptions Assistant to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a busy environment and have excellent and proven working knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts, Microsoft Office and databases.

MS-UK is a national charity dedicated to giving information, advice and support to anyone affected by MS. We put people affected by MS at the heart of our work. We recognise that each one is an individual who has needs, rights and choices.

The position is maternity cover (1 year), part time, 24 hours per week (working pattern is negotiable after training period) and based at our office in Colchester, Essex. Salary £17,860 pro rata per annum. Benefits include private healthcare, life insurance and income protection, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and Christmas closure. Main Responsibilities

To prepare and maintain financial records, including cash handling.

To be responsible for the New Pathways subscription procedure.

To be MS-UK's database champion.

Key Tasks

Be responsible for the accounts procedure including sales and purchase ledger. Keep records accurate and up to date.

Regularly bank cheques and cash and collect credit card payments, record information on an Excel spreadsheet ready to enter on Sage 50 Accounts package.

Input financial data onto Sage Accounts package, using department and project coding.

Download online donor reports on a weekly basis and export to the database.

Produce monthly Gift Aid reports.

Process the subscriber direct debits reports, amendments/new instructions.

Process new subscriptions and renewals and maintain subscriber information on the Harlequin database and provide reports as necessary.

To be the first point of contact for all database enquiries from staff.

To work with the General Manager to ensure compliance of the database with new data protection laws.

To develop database functionality to ensure efficiency and effectiveness across MS-UK.

Key Skills

It is essential to have previous experience of accounts and database procedures.

Accuracy and concentration is of the upmost importance as is attention to detail.

Ability to work on own initiative.

Excellent time management.

Flexible, enthusiastic and be a good team player.
