Contract Type
Full Time

This highly respected central Bristol based financial planning firm, with a loyal and long-standing client-base, who were very much ahead of the curve in terms of offering a fee-based service well before RDR, would like to engage with Paraplanners who are committed to excellent client service delivery and have a real desire to play a key proactive role within a successful financial planning business.

This is not a role where you’ll just be told what to do and given reports to write; this a position where you’ll be recognised and treated as a Senior Paraplanning professional; a chance for you to work with the whole team i.e. senior management, operations and financial planners in order to help refine, and contribute positively to their overall client service proposition that consists of working really closely with clients, using coaching skills, to define clients’ financial life goals & aspirations and then put the appropriate plans, through financial planning advice, in place to help shape that financial journey.

You’ll also get the opportunity to utilise your technical knowledge and play a significant part in chairing the company’s investment committee.

As well as the usual paraplanning duties i.e. research, producing client reports, sitting in on client meetings, as required, etc you’ll benefit from working within a really close-knit team of financial planning and support professionals where there’s a 'no them or us’ type environment - where the client is at the heart of all they do; the success of the business is completely down to their people, the way they all interact with their clients and the overall service they provide as a cohesive unit.

Ideally, you’ll have a minimum of Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning or the Certificate in Paraplanning Qualification together with demonstrable paraplanning experience, as well as experience in the principles of lifetime planning & cashflow modelling with a real desire to help contribute to way things are done within the business and help shape the advice process going forward.

Overall you’ll:

  • Work with the financial planners to carry out research and produce written client reports
  • Chair the investment committee
  • Answer client queries
  • Manage the relationship with providers
  • Be responsible for producing MI on the report writing process
  • Develop the paraplanning function within the business and manage the paraplanning budget
  • Hold responsibility for the company’s suite of research products
  • Attend conferences and report back with ideas on how to implement and improve processes
  • Be the lead technical resource within the business.

The owner of the business is well-known and respected within the financial planning profession through his blogs on platforms such as Adviser Lounge, Podcasts and general social media and is a real advocate of promoting professionalism within the financial planning sector as well as encouraging the development of younger and newcomers to the industry.
