Acorn Recruitment is seeking a Laboratory Technician to work for a reputable food manufacturer, located in Bristol.

This is a part-time role working on a permanent basis.

Working hours - Monday to Friday 10am to 2pm (would consider other hours to suit)


To test and record results on all food ingredients in a timely, professional and organised manner.

Key responsibilities:

To analyse any of the samples normally dealt with by the Laboratory including internal checks and analysis of standards. Such analyses may be made using chemical and physical-chemical techniques and where appropriate the procedure to be followed for a given analysis will have to be decided.
To carry out more specialised analyses under the direction of supervision.
To work to the highest standards of Safety, Hygiene, discipline and performance as defined by Laboratory Procedures.
To recognise anything typical within one's own analytical results and in those of other Laboratory Technicians, if necessary initiating a check analysis. Unexpected results are to be brought to the attention of Management (or nominated deputy) and at the direction of Management, to the "Customer".
To maintain a clean and tidy work area, refilling reagent bottles before they are empty and preparing new reagent and standard solutions for instrumentation.
To maintain adequate records of work done and results obtained, reporting the latter promptly and drawing attention to unexpected features to Management.
To monitor the daily operation of instruments, making minor adjustments etc as required and drawing Management's attention to any untoward occurrences.
To assist in the training and development of other members of staff.
To assist in the improvement of existing methods and in the Management.
To carry out other such duties within the Section as may be assigned from time to time by Management.
To liaise with Plant / "Customer" as necessary.

Experience in a laboratory environment.

Good IT skills, ideally SAP

"A" Level science, preferable Degree
