SENIOR SUPPORT WORKER

Pay: £18285 to £21404 per annum(dependant on experience and qualifications)

Day shifts 7am to 3pm and 3pm to 9/9.30pm

Full time or term time contracts on offer.

Must have NVQ/QCF3 in Health and Social Care

Must be able to work some weekends, ideally alternate weekends.

Must be a car driver

Based in Ringwood, Hampshire

Our client is an independent, residential special school and college for students with severe and moderate learning difficulties and disabilities. They offer day and residential care within a beautiful environment where staff, whatever their job role, have the opportunity to make a real and positive difference in the lives of our students.

They are seeking Senior Support Workers for Day shifts. You will have QCF 3 in Health and Social Care, previous SEN experience and ideally working as a Senior Support Worker.

They take a holistic approach to the work we do and all job roles make a valued contribution in helping to grow the confidence and capabilities of our students.

Senior Support Worker will be responsible for:

* leading shifts when the most senior person is absent or when asked to by the House Co-ordinator or their Deputy; this includes re-organising of staff and amending of shifts as necessary
* showing initiative in organising and communicating with other staff about the students' needs and activities as well as their emotional well being
* helping to ensure all students health care needs are met including liaising with medical services and ensuring safe implementation of medication according to specified policies and protocols
* Participating in staff meetings, training courses and supervision sessions
* Ensuring that communication systems are used effectively (eg daily logs, diaries and students files)
* contributing to any report writing on request
* Provide liaison with parents and other professionals as directed

* supporting and encouraging students to develop and maintain social relationships within the house community

* supporting students in developing independence eg in self-help skills, personal hygiene, household tasks

* supporting and encouraging students to participate in recreational and leisure activities

* contributing to students general well-being, health, safety and security

* assist students with the provision of personal care ensuring that the dignity of each student is respected and upheld at all times

* maintain and update paper-based and electronic information systems, as directed to ensure that concise, comprehensive and timely records are maintained

* Ensure that incident , accident forms and similar are completed and submitted without delay, and in accordance with specified policies, procedures and time scales

* Assist with the production of student assessments and reports.

* Ensure that any matters of concern or possible concern relating to the care, well being and safety of children, colleagues or visitors are recorded and reported, and in accordance with specified procedures and time scales

* Directly assist, coach and advise staff at times when challenging behaviour is displayed by the students, maintain and explore proactive and positive approaches, according to our clients approved techniques.This may involve, at times, assisting staff to apply physical intervention as a last resort, to make a situation safe, once all the proactive and active strategies have been explored.
