Chef: An experienced Chef is required to join the catering team at this leading independent day and boarding school, working on their two sites. The Chef will cater for students and staff as well as for the school hospitality events.

As Chef, you will prepare both hot and cold meals, plan meals in keeping with special dietary requirements and adhere to service standards and portion control.


*Prepare meals, ensuring that all food is safe and served at an appropriate temperature
*Ensure quality standards are adhered to - utilise modern food technology and methods, maintain high levels of hygiene and work within allergen guidelines
*Assist the Catering Manager and Head of School with producing food for functions / events - deliver exciting menu's in line with customer requirements
*Support the Chef Manager in budgeting and controlling daily food expenses, minimise food wastage and advise on stock levels, ensuring groceries are fresh and frozen products are used quickly
*Act as an exemplar to all chefs and kitchen staff - prepare, present and serve all varieties of meals
*Foster good working relationships amongst colleagues and management within the catering team and across the school to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the department
*Assist in the induction of new starters
*Administrative control - ensure the accurate and timely administration of paperwork, assist with the maintenance of records regarding stock and equipment
*Progress and develop within the role - fully participate in any training, coaching and support offered -attend training sessions to ensure compliance with health & safety, child protection, and school policies / procedures
*Health and Safety - adhere to school's policies and standards, comply with food hygiene and health safety standards in the kitchen and report defects in machinery / equipment in a timely manner
*Act as a customer service ambassador for the catering department - demonstrate exemplary customer service in all undertakings
*Support the school - comply with the schools safeguarding policies, abide by the latest KCSIE statutory guidance, complete an annual self-declaration in relation to ability to work with children and create positive working relationships to contribute to the ethos and aims of the school

Skills and experience:

*Experience in a catering role
*A city and guilds level 2 qualification
*Able to uphold exceptional health and safety and hygiene standards and deliver high quality meals
*Excellent interpersonal skills - able to effectively communicate between others to ensure the efficient operation of the catering department and team morale
*Able to interact with children on a day to day basis
