Acorn Recruitment is seeking a Technical Administrator located in Caerphilly, South Wales.

The ideal candidate will be a strong administrator with excellent customer skills. You will be technically minded; preferably from a plumbing background.

Salary is £20,000 to £24,000 pa + depending on experience.

Our client is a subscription membership company. As part of their core offering, contribute to the protection of public health by preventing contamination of public water supplies and to encourage efficient use of water by promoting compliance. In promoting compliance, our client works with Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations and Scottish Water Byelaws, on behalf of UK Water Suppliers.

They currently delivers their purpose and objectives by proactively promoting the regulations, providing approval schemes & guidance, supporting and representing Water Supply Companies.

Purpose of the job

To effectively administer their approvals scheme and respond to technical queries to deliver excellent customer service and help individuals and organisations demonstrate compliance with the water fittings regulations.

Main duties

Approvals:

* To effectively administer the process for assessing and awarding Approvals of materials and products.
* To process applications for new approvals, re-assessments, alterations and additions to approvals.
* To maintain up-to date listing of approved materials and products in the Water Fittings and Materials Directory.
* To liaise with customers, test laboratories, manufacturers and Product Assessment Group (PAG) regarding Approvals. This includes providing an advice service, in conjunction with other staff, for approvals during office hours (8:30 to 17:00 Monday to Thursdays and 8:30 to 16:30 Friday)
* To arrange for invoicing of applicants for the cost of approvals.
* To issue timely reminders to approval holders of the audit reassessment of all approvals.
* To investigate queries regarding approved materials and products and claims of incorrect use of approvals.
* To contribute to draft amendments and updates to approval scheme guidance.
* In conjunction with Approvals & Enquiries Manager, PAG and other advisors as may be required, to determine the appropriate test requirements for approval of products by the scheme.
* To administer customer questionnaires and collate performance information, to identify areas for improvement and make improvement suggestions.

Candidate requirements:

* GCSEs in English and Maths
* Plumbing qualification and knowledge of the Water Supply Industry
* NVQ level 3 or above in technical/scientific discipline
* Understanding of technical information
* Great planning and organisation skills
* Numerate with a good attention to detail
* Strong customer focus
* Effective communicator
* Good IT skills, in particular word, excel and database experience an advantage
* Self-starter with strong ability to execute assigned tasks
* Team worker
