I am currently recruiting for my Client, one of the most respected and largest independant Main Contracting Groups in the UK. A genuine multi-disciplinary specialist, operating across all stages of the built environment lifecycle, with a core focus on transforming communities via the work they deliver.

Due to ongoing success and expansion, they require a Mechanical Project Manager to join their award winning Engineering Services arm, based from the modern Newcastle offices.

The successful candidate will join an established team and will assist in the delivery of Projects across the Commercial, Healthcare, Leisure, Education, Industrial and Refurbishment sectors.

Key Role & Responsibilities:

* Manage the pre-construction & construction phase of the projects attending client, design & project meetings both internal & external.
* Manage all commercial/Financial procedures for review with Director & Commercial Manager.
* Manage all Health & Safety on projects ensuring all work is carried out safely. Assist project teams to develop Method Statements and Risk Assessments and the Safety Plan and to observe the requirements for CDM regulations applicable, also attending all HS&E meetings.
* Provide input into buildability ,programme ,methodology and costing during the feasibility and construction stages.
* Provide leadership and support to site teams, engineers, supervisors, tradespersons and support staff. Highlighting any training needs for staff.
* Prepare operational report for monthly management report.
* Liaise with the customer, client and design team during the course of the project
* Scrutinise tender documents and compare to construction issue documentation and identify changes
* Develop programme of works within constraints of Main Contractors Programme and monitor throughout contract duration
* Maintain schedule of procurement comparing tender to actual costs and ensuring delivery requirements are as programme requirements
* Responsibility for project profitability and completion of monthly financial report and issue of timely monthly interim valuations with all variations included
* Source labour and ensure that high productivity is achieved
* Expedite information release from design team and ensure and ensure design team meetings are held and minuted.
* Answer all relevant correspondence from client, engineers, builder and sub-contractors.
* Chair sub contract meetings where appropriate
* Supervise the quality of the works targeting zero defects at completion
* Notify to your line manager any contractual risks to the project and mitigate them.
* Resolving all technical queries arising on the project
* Monitor the quality of the works to hand over a snag free building. Ensure the requirements of the company's Quality Procedure Manual are followed on all projects
* Other reasonable duties as required


* Health and Safety Awareness.

* Financial awareness.
* Experience of construction in the following sectors ideally; Education, Healthcare, Design & Build, and Refurbishment.
* Experience of planning, programming and managing high value projects.
* Varied project history and good knowledge of the sub-contractor base.
* A strong understanding of technical issues and trends in the construction sectors.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Ability to build strong relationships at all levels.
* Acute analytical, planning and organisational skills.
* Strong leadership and decision making skills and the ability to respond to change.
* Proactive, flexible, motivated approach to work.
* Valid CSCS Card
* SMSTS 5 day course or IOSH Equivalent
* Proficient IT user.
