Tradewind Social Care have a fabulous new vacancy for a Children's Practitioner to join the London Borough of Hackney.

The main purpose of the role is to work within the social work unit as a member of the team to respond to the needs of children and their families and undertake a range of key statutory duties under the supervision of a qualified social worker.

Main duties:
To undertake, as part of the statutory assessment process, interviews, observation and gather information from a number of sources as directed by the line manager
To analyse, summarise and evaluate this information to provide a holistic assessment of a child’s needs
To carry out statutory visits to looked after children, discussing in detail with the line manager observations from the visit and recording the information accurately
To understand the context of child development, parenting capacity and family and environmental factors in which to place the needs of an individual child
Under the close guidance of the line manager, to assess and balance risk and protective factors within a child protection framework
To review and reassess as required by the line manager and be open to a change of view in response to new evidence

Essential skills and experience needed:
Knowledge and understanding of child development, parenting capacity, environmental factors and risk and protective factors
Ability to summarise, analyse and evaluate complex information
Knowledge of childcare legislation
Ability to implement effective interventions with children and families
Ability to write concise reports and have excellent verbal communication skills
Computer literacy and the skills necessary to work with information management systems and produce good quality data in a variety of formats
The ability to work with word processing packages at a speed commensurate with the responsibilities of the role

Job requirements:
Degree level or other related professional qualification (i.e. Youth or Community Work or equivalent to NVQ Level 4)
Must have a minimum of 2 years recent experience working in the same or similar role within a Local Authority
An enhanced DBS that is of satisfactory level is essential
