Our clients High Temperature Incineration plant provides secure destruction of hazardous and non-hazardous, low level radioactive and confidential materials. The rotary Kiln incinerator is not only the largest of its kind in the UK but is also one of the most technically advanced HTI facilities in Europe. It handles liquids (up to 10 tonnes per hour), gases (bulk and cylinders) and solids through a state of the art shredding, mixing and pumping systems.

As the General Manager of the plant you will be responsible for directing and managing the operations and any project works at the upper tier COMAH high temperature incinerator for hazardous waste with a workforce of around 80FTE. You will be Responsible for QHSE for the site that includes occupational and process safety for our upper tier COMAH site. You will ensure all the Environmental conditions are met in line with the permit at all times, own and manage the site P&L including forecasting, control of direct fixed and variable costs and develop optimisation / reduction programmes.

You will be required to manage and lead the workforce and create a positive working environment, develop site management team and succession planning, understand customer demand and accommodate client demands to operations and share best practices and ensure adherence to all procedures, particularly safety police. You will ensure all group policies and procedures are implemented in the area ensuring Group Values and strategy are adhered to and continue site performance improvement by increasing availability of all parts of the plant and throughputs.

You will actively encourage and pursue efficiency improvements and internalisation opportunities and cooperative working with all relevant business units, manage maintenance: Optimisation of ratio of planned to reactive maintenance with KPIs measuring availability and operational performance. Define and implement relevant investment projects to increase site capacity and flexibility. Responsible for management of assets and capital spend profile - 10 year plan and responsible for engagement and communication with external customers and agencies i.e. Environment agency, HSE, Key accounts and local residents.

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:

To carry out this role you must have a Minimum BEng (mechanical or chemical), experience of Operational Management at an industrial facility, Project Management experience, experience of upper tier COMAH operations, Financial Management skills, including budgeting, HSQE Management Ability, Leadership/People management experience, Good level of IT competency, Familiarity with SAP plant maintenance or equivalent, experience of major shutdown / plant outage programmes and have previous experience managing sites with more than 50 employees.

Delivery of Six Sigma / Lean Management continuous improvement programmes would be desirable.
