Workshop Operations Supervisor - Move up the ranks with a structured approach!

My client is a global leader within environmental solutions, they provide a comprehensive range of waste, water and energy management services designed to build the circular economy and preserve scarce raw materials.

The Role:
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Workshop Operations Supervisor to join my client's busy and rapidly expanding team. This role will a be a staff role, based in the Kent region.

You will be working within my clients Municipal Operation. The site is a shared facility with my clients Commercial Operation. There is also a Transfer Station at the location. My client's strategically located site ensures businesses have the opportunity to reuse and recycle more waste, reducing further dependency on landfill and making a positive contribution to society and the environment.
You will be joining a busy team of 15 personnel with two mobile engineers covering their out base locations. They currently service circa 3000 businesses within their operating area on a weekly basis via their Commercial and Municipal business.

Workshop Operations Supervisors are in place to manage the performance of the Workshop in accordance with the companies' policies and procedures and targets/KPIs for Compliance, Financial Performance and Service Delivery. You will work to the instruction of the Manager, to ensure that the highest standards; in terms of Legal Compliance, Financial Management and Service Delivery to the customer(s), are achieved within the workshop.
An integral part of the role is to ensure that you achieve a 95% "First Time MOT" Pass Rate for all vehicles/trailers, of all classes, prepared and presented for MOT by the workshop. You will also be required to manage and monitor correct parts supply and allocation in association with your administration function, manage the correct application and control of oil, lubricants and consumables.

Maintaining and documenting the progression and development of all staff is another important aspect of the role, with particular emphasis on apprentices and their technical training, identifying training needs and equipment requirements to aid efficient working. The role requires you to performance manage all direct reports with regular one-to-one and group meetings, clearly and realistically, setting individual and workshop team objectives.

You must be able to speak to senior stakeholders externally and internally and build good relationships quickly. We need someone who has a high level of credibility and gravitas within these specifics. We need an enthusiastic and driven individual, who has excellent leadership and influential skills also.
ssential Skills:
Have a GSCE education or equivalent experience.
Excellent technical experience, knowledge and qualifications, preferably in the waste management vehicle engineering sector, are considered crucial for this role.
A proven track record of progression with supervisory experience is also considered necessary.
Candidates should have their vocational license
IOSH certification - Or be prepared to study for this
Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, training and coaching skills are also required to be successful in this role.
