Position: 3rd Line Technical Specialist 
Location: Harwell, Oxford 
Job Type: Full Time, 12 month Fixed-term Contract 
Salary: From £41,255 per annum

About the role: 

As the IT Manager you will be responsible for operating the Liberate (access management service) infrastructure, and providing technical expertise and assistance to on-board customers into the service. You`ll continuously identify opportunities for improvements in products, services and relationships. 

Responsibilities: 

- Ensuring the successful operation of the Liberate infrastructure according to defined Service Levels 
- Providing technical support and assistance to on-board customers, ensuring a successful connection is established to their directory services and that their managed services are configured appropriately 
- Maintaining the Liberate infrastructure and work closely with their third-party developer to diagnose problems and suggest ideas for improvements 
- Working closely with the Operations Manager and Chief technical architect, as well as with other colleagues to plan and develop the service and its technology 
- Identifying areas of a technical nature for improvement and implement those changes without affecting service delivery 
- Providing technical training and guidance on the Liberate to other staff in order to establish and maintain a resilient and first-class support model 
- Working with third party suppliers and developers to improve the service delivery and its technology 
- Be part of a team to provide out-of-hours emergency support 

About you: 

- Previous experience operating as a lead in a technical support area 
- Experience supporting customers with varying levels of technical expertise 
- System administration experience of Linux platform (RHEL and Debian) 
- System administration experience of Java Servlet containers (e.g. Tomcat, Jetty) 
- Excellent communication skills with demonstrated track record of the ability to convey technical information 
- Knowledge of Web application server technologies 

You may have experience of the following: Technical Applications Manager, IT Manager, SQL, Database, Data Integrity, Data Warehousing, IIS, SQL Server, Project Management, ETL, Testing, BI Stack, Database Design, ICT Manager, Applications, Implementation, etc.
