Are you an enthusiastic, motivated, considerate and patient Support Worker who wants to make a difference to the lives of adults with learning disabilities?
Our client provides long-term accommodation and care, based in small, unique family style homes. They have an ethos of supporting independence, dignity, choice and achievement by helping people to live the lives they choose.

As a Support Worker for adults with learning disabilities and complex needs you will:

• Accompany the adults to their life-skills sessions such as music; art; sensory sessions
• Work on a 1:1 or 2:1 ratio
• Assist them in every aspect of their daily lives, including personal care
• Provide a safe and supportive environment that enables individuals to feel valued, reach their potential and nurture their aspirations
• Maintain appropriate records and written reports
• Plan trips and activities
The residents you will support have complex learning disability needs including physical and sensory impairments; epilepsy care; cerebral palsy; diabetes; communication needs and health conditions associated with ageing.

We are looking for candidates with the following:

• An appreciation of the needs of people with learning disabilities
• Knowledge of autism; epilepsy and dementia would be an advantage
• Knowledge of specialist equipment would be an advantage but not essential as person handling training will be provided
• To be considerate, patient, self-motivated, enthusiastic, respectful, non-judgmental and professional
• To be flexible as variable shifts include long days; weekends, sleep-ins; occasional awake nights as allocated on a monthly rota
• Sound interpersonal skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills plus basic IT and report writing skills
• A Health & Social Care NVQ2 or Level 2 Diploma Qualification would be beneficial or be working towards or a willingness to work towards within 18 months of commencement
• To hold a driving licence due to our rural location and the requirement to attend appointments/activities with service users.
