Our Local Authority client in the East London area are looking for a Project Manager in the High street and Town Centre team, which falls within the Economic Development division.

MAIN PURPOSE

Working closely with the High Streets & Town Centres Manager, provide support for the work of the Mayor’s Employment and Enterprise and Board and the actions taken forward through the Economic Task Force.

Support the High Streets & Town Centres Manager in developing and maintaining effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of the Council’s Enterprise Strategy.

Develop and maintain an understanding of the evidence base in respect of economic trends and the impact of the economic climate on growth sectors in the borough.

Initiate and develop projects which support the objectives and actions of the Council’s economic strategies, as agreed with the High Streets & Town Centres Manager and in line with the Council’s Project Management Framework.

Oversee and manage the day to day operations of these projects in line with the Council’s Project Management Framework.

Provide accurate and timely management and monitoring information for projects to the Business Partnerships Manager and to other Council project and programme management structures as required.

Prepare, collate and distribute agenda and supporting papers for meetings of the Mayor’s Employment and Enterprise Board and Economic Task Force.

Attend meetings of the Mayor’s Employment and Enterprise Board and Economic Task Force to provide support including taking an accurate record of business discussed.

Act as main point of contact for day-to-day communications with members of the Mayor’s Employment and Enterprise Board and Economic Task Force.

Attend and participate in internal meetings with colleagues from other services and directorates to assist in embedding the Council’s Economic Development agenda in the work of other teams.

Represent the Economic Development service at meetings of external partners and stakeholders as requested by the Business Partnerships Manager, to support the achievement of the Enterprise Strategy objectives.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Knowledge of the issues, challenges and opportunities facing town centres and high streets.

Knowledge of national, regional and local policy as it affects high streets and town centres, and of the key trends in regeneration delivery in high streets and town centres.

Experience of supporting project managing successful town centre regeneration schemes or other relevant regeneration initiatives.

Experience of engaging stakeholders in the delivery of regeneration programmes
