Assistant Educational Psychologist (Transfer Reviews)

Full time, fixed term contract - 12 months

The Role

  • To coordinate the Transfer Review assessment processes with schools for individual children and young people with a statement of special educational needs within a defined geographical patch.

  • To mentor Transfer Review Officers

  • To take a lead on Quality Assurance of Education Health and Care plans (EHCPs) as part of the Transfer Review team

  • To act as a single point of contact for families and other involved agencies throughout the assessment process

  • To work collaboratively with other agencies to secure the best possible outcomes for children and young people within the meaning of the appropriate legislation

  • To work within the statutory timescales affecting SEN legislation.

  • To work within the local authority's agreed arrangements for supporting Person Centred Planning as envisaged through the SEND COP 2015

  • To chair and facilitate multi-agency Transfer Review meeting in mainstream schools and settings and assist in the coproduction of draft Education Health and Care Plans with the young person, their family and other professionals.

  • To attend training and be familiar with evidence based interventions as used and promoted by the Essex EP Service.

  • To coordinate work with EHCCos within the SAS to ensure that the writing and quality of EHCPs is maintained across the system.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Professional qualification to include either a British Psychological Society (BPS) recognised degree in psychology or another degree with a relevant conversion course to BPS recognised status completed
