This role provides a professional, efficient and responsive technical
trade’s service as and when required for reactive and planned works.
The postholder will enhance the student and staff experience by
providing a safe, fit for purpose working environment and a high level of
technical support to all University sites.

Principal Accountabilities
To maintain the university buildings, to meet customer needs and legislative
requirements, as defined by client standards and as directed by the Senior
Technician. To complete planned maintenance tasks as issued and perform reactive
maintenance as required within timescales laid down in service level agreements.
Ensure all infrastructure, building fabric and mechanical and electrical installations have asset plans and are maintained to agreed standards across all University buildings.

To carry out a high level of diagnostic/fault finding as required, where disruption to
services or activities would cause inconvenience to building users. To undertake administrative duties relevant to the task/job such as raising and signing
off job sheets, recording deliveries, completing checklists, corresponding between
departments. To keep control and perform weekly stock takes of all stock items such as consumables tools and equipment in accordance with minimum stock levels to
requisition items needed. To ensure all relevant building data/certification, O&Ms, drawings and H&S documentation (i.e. COSH/Asbestos register/L8 water quality logbook etc.) relevant to their sites are updated as required with any work carried out accurately recorded. Have a good understanding of health and safety issues that affect the workplace and the ability to ensure legislative compliance. Make sure any non-conformities are reported assisting with resolution and proposing solutions as required. Co-operate andassist with any health intervention requirements that mitigate the risk to those affected by work activities. Ensure that appropriate risk assessments and method statements are undertaken addressing and reducing risk associated with activities. Ensure equipment is regularly checked and maintained. Act as technical expert in qualified area of expertise, providing advice and support to all
internal personnel, maintenance contractors, and project and design staff. Actively
engage in projects and the transition from build to operation phase to include monitoring of commissioning, updating M&E asset information is up to date for inclusion in the estates management system. To provide high quality customer care and a professional first impression to all visitors, both internal and external, across the university, and to provide a first point of contact for
any enquiries in respect of all university activities.
8. To work with, supervise and mentor apprentices assigned to the Estates Planning
