Our Facilities Services team based at Walsall Hospital are looking for a Maintenance Electrician to efficiently and effectively carry out planned, breakdown and emergency maintenance of the complete range of electrical services at the Trust Properties.


* Undertake a lead role in installation work as part of new or refurbishment projects.

* Maintain and repair of the complete range of electrical engineering services associated with the Health Care estate. This will include for example the following: electrical power, internal lighting, nurse call systems, communication systems, plant and other alarms, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, UPS units, electrical distribution systems, street and external lighting, motors and control equipment, portable equipment, catering equipment and fixed plant.

* To undertake correctly and to a high standard the work associated with an inspection and testing programme both for fixed and mobile/portable equipment, ensuring compliance with the latest edition of the wiring regulations BS7671. Requesting remedial works or emergency isolations as and when required. Issue the appropriate completion certificates.

* Undertake work associated with Fire Alarms.

* Undertake work on electrical systems in accordance with good practice and the requirements of the Electricity at Work Regulations (1989). When working on live installations eg when testing, comply with the safe working practices appropriate to the work being undertaken.

* Undertake fault finding on complex Low Voltage (LV) networks, critical systems and equipment, liaise with Engineering Supervisor regarding plant or equipment failure and to request the supply of goods and services as necessary.

We're looking for:

* City & Guilds Craft Certificate in Electrical Installation or Plant Engineering or equivalent.

* BTCE ONC Electrical Engineering or Equivalent.

* City & Guilds Design, Installation and Verification of Electrical Services (2400).

* 17th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations Certificate (2381).

* City & Guilds Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations (2391).

* Completion of a structured training programme in electrical engineering Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical engineering services, operation and maintenance of a wide range of building services plant and equipment.

* In depth knowledge and specialist skills relating to the fault finding, maintenance and testing of commercial porous load sterilisers in accordance with requirements of HTM 2010 and HTM
