The Client

The client is a 27 year old female who has an acquired brain injury and physical disabilities and therefore she requires support to manage her personal care needs. The Care Team have made fantastic progress with the client, so although she can present challenging behaviour at times, this has been minimised by the fulfilling activities that she does and the significant progress that she has made - all as a result of the time and dedication that her family and Support Worker's provide to her.

Although non-verbal the client communicates through noises and sounds, and you soon become familiar with the sounds of happiness, and those of when she is less happy.

She loves music, so the willingness to sing along to nursery rhymes will go a long way with the client. In addition, she loves art, and participating in cooking. Her next aim is to assist with the preparation with her food. She loves her regular sessions in her personal hydro pool at home, and going out to local attractions.

Most importantly we are looking for people with a sense of humour, as she loves jolly people and she can soon establish those Support Workers of whom she can get away with things with - so assertiveness with humour tends to work.

The Role

As a Family Support Worker you will be expected to provide all aspects of support to the family; undertaking domestic and household chores, and providing two-to-one care to the client.

This is a varied role with the sole emphasis of assisting the family in the running of their home.
