Infrastructure Engineer

We are currently recruiting for an Infrastructure Engineer with experience in VMware and Citrix for an Insurance company based in the City of London.

You will be responsible for managing, monitoring, troubleshooting, supporting and improving the company`s IT infrastructure, in order to deliver high quality IT services to the business.

Key Responsibilities:

- Maintain and monitor all network, security and computer systems to meet the company's current and future requirements
- Responsible for day to day management and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including storage, the virtualised environments, servers, network devices and productivity tools
- Monitor systems and identify performance and functional issues proactively
- Work within strict time frames and escalate incidents within defined timeframes in accordance with Service Operations Procedure
- Test all changes to networks, hardware, software, and hosted applications
- Monitor service delivery compliance to quality standards and business requirements
- Provide third line support for business applications and systems
- Maintain effective internal communications with all end user departments and overseas offices
- Assist in maintaining security and continuity of service for all business services
- Maintain IT recovery processes and procedures
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of IT projects
- Recommend improvements to IT data and communications services
- Implement system changes in accordance with IT policies and procedures
- Maintain the necessary project plans and documentation of all system builds and modifications

Key Skills:

- Excellent analysis, logic and problem-solving skills
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, Exchange, App-V, SharePoint and SQL Server
- Excellent knowledge of virtualisation technologies including VMware, Citrix XenApp and Citrix XenDesktop
- Ability to gather relevant information systematically to troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Ability to take responsibility and use initiative
- Solid technical background including networks, hardware, software and telecommunications
- Knowledge of ITIL and industry best practices
- Ability to work as an individual and in a team
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills

Experience:

- Minimum 5 years` experience working in enterprise environment
- Experience of working in a formalised third-line support role
- Good experience of supporting virtualisation & infrastructure solutions
- Experience of project delivery
- Insurance industry background beneficial but not essential
