About The Role

We are looking for a Senior HR Advisor to join our busy People Team here at Halfords Autocentres!


The purpose of this role is to be the main point of contact for all HR issues across the business and to support the field based HR Managers.

To provide guidance and support to Centre Managers and Regional Managers with all matters relating to employee relations and provide effective case management of people related issues such as: disciplinaries, performance management, employment tribunals, grievance and absence management.

Based in the Support Centre, you will also provide guidance and support to Heads of Department based within the Support Centre


- Full ownership of ER cases across the business - Updating HRM`s and getting HRM involvement where appropriate.This will include preparation of all relevant documentation.
- Ensure that all colleague queries are dealt with in an appropriate manner and that we provide a service to the CM`s and RGM`s with any colleague issues
- Full Management of LTS cases including Occupational Health Referrals
- Management of relationship with solicitors
- Update of People Policies to ensure that all policies are up to date and in line with current legislation
- Ensure all contracts of employment are regularly reviewed and updated as appropriate
- Work with the HRM`s to ensuring that all appropriate colleagues have been fully trained from an ER perspective
- To line manage and take responsibility for the continuing development of HR Administrator, ensuring that this role is developed into HR Advisor level.
- Be the first point of contact for the Department Heads at Support Centre and support with managing performance, Colleague Engagement and the development of their teams
- Manage the Support Centre Colleague Engagement actions and work with Department Heads to bring action plans alive
- Ensure that 6/12 month appraisal process continues within Support Centre and work with Department Heads to ensure that appraisals are completed and support with any actions
- Work with Department Heads to ensure that 4,8 and 12 week reviews are completed with all new starters and that all new starters are properly inducted.This includes delivery of the Support Centre ½ day induction programme.


- Experience managing a extensive ER case load and previous experience managing up to Employment Tribunal
- Experience working in a fast paced environment and managing multiple tasks
- Previous line management experience would be an advantage


- Ability to communicate effectively at different levels

- CIPD qualified or working towards
