Job Overview

To act in compliance with The Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011 by fulfilling all statutory support, supervision, and training requirements.

RELEVANT LEGISLATION

The provider should have working knowledge of:-

* Children and Families Act 2014
* Care Act 2014
* SEND Reforms 2015
* Working together to Safeguard Children 2015
* The Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011

Key Responsibilities

Supervision

* A named supervisory/fostering social worker to be provided to the carers.
* This worker will visit the carer’s home on a monthly basis to carry out supervision of the carers; the purpose of which is to supervise the foster carer’s work, ensure the foster carer is meeting the child’s needs, taking into account the child’s wishes and feelings, offer support and to assess the carer’s performance and develop their competencies and skills.
* At least three supervisory visits per year must include seeing both the approved carers.

Support

* The provider will identify opportunities for the carers to attend appropriate Support Groups that take place at a venue in their geographical area on a regular basis.
* The carers will be provided with access to out of hours help and support.
* The providers will ensure that the carers have access to independent support locally should they experience an allegation against them of abuse of a child in their care.

Communication

* In addition to specific communication with the purchaser highlighted in the earlier sections of this specification the provider’s supervising social worker will liaise with Council designated fostering social worker and children’s social worker at monthly intervals.
* Monthly supervisory reports to be sent to Council fostering social worker and children’s social worker.

Annual Review

* The carers to be reviewed at least annually to consider whether they continue to be suitable for the position held.
* Supervising social worker to complete annual review report and attend meeting.
