What you will be doing

You will be tasked with:

  • Conceiving and portraying the big data picture – across data service platforms and interfaces – analysing current state and contributing to the realisation of a desired future state.
  • Identifying current initiatives capable of closing the gap between current state and future goals – and ones that may lead to further deviation.
  • Defining standards for naming, governing, modeling, managing, transforming, cleansing, enriching, storing, and delivering data across AXA Insurance.
  • Highlighting how data is and will be with a clear explanation of impacts on people and organisation, business processes and technology.

Who are we looking for?

Knowledge/skills

  • Thorough understanding of the workings of AXA Insurance and / or Financial Services
  • Strong familiarity with data services disciplines and tooling
  • Data modelling, object modelling, Big data technologies, design patterns
  • Hosting specification, cloud computing, SOA and web / mobile / social technologies experience
  • Demonstrable experience across traditional database platforms (preferably Oracle & SQL Server), emerging technologies (preferably across Azure and / or AWS), MPP, NoSQL and Columnar data stores
  • Innovative data organisation approaches – beyond legacy data warehouse paradigms (such as Kimball & Inmon)
  • Demonstrable knowledge of hybrid and transition architectures
  • Data acquisition, transformation and forwarding techniques, platforms and services (on premise and/or cloud based) – such as informatica, SSIS, Kalido and bespoke metadata driven approaches
  • Broad range of reporting, analytics and visualisation platforms and /or services
  • Background across data services – from operational administration, through integration, to provisioning
  • Agile delivery lifecycle and active architecture interactions on inflight initiatives
  • Costing, estimation and risk identification / mitigation skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to present information concisely and to clearly identify key issues
  • Ability to manage a demanding workload
  • Thought Leadership and self sufficiency
  • Preferably Degree Level Education or relevant Professional Qualification

Experience:

  • Previous IT experience of which a significant level of experience has been IT strategy/architecture experience, both in a large commercial organisation
  • Strong thought leadership, visioning and influencing skills
  • Track record of successful definition and oversight of complex architectures using a wide range of products and packages
  • Track record of technical delivery in a project environment
  • Up to date knowledge of leading edge technology options and vendors
  • Good understanding of architecture theory and application
  • Understanding of systems life cycles and system integration
  • Track record of collaboration and re-use of solutions in global organisations
  • Understanding of corporate and global IT strategy and infrastructure
  • Strategic and functional planning skills
