This is an incredible opportunity to join the exciting and fast growing E-commerce side of the business team located within our Head Office in London. Your main responsibility will be to prospect E-commerce businesses (online sellers) located within German speaking countries in Europe. The position will provide you with a platform to further enhance your international business development skills, access fantastic career development opportunities and realise your remuneration goals.

About the role

The E-commerce Business Development Manager role is highly visible at all levels of the business and creates great opportunities for internal recognition and career progression. Acting as a representative of the company brand, you will be tasked with identifying, engaging and securing new business prospects located mainly in German speaking countries. Your target audience will be agile online retailing businesses seeking to grow globally through Cross Border Trade via online marketplaces and online web-shops.

After identifying the needs of your prospects and positioning our Online Seller service, you will negotiate pricing and handhold the customer through the simple registration process supported by a dedicated Sales Support team. Working closely with the German Account Management team, you will then help the client initiate their transactional relationship with us.

Connected to German business communities and actively working social and online media channels, you will have the opportunity to present yourself as an expert on foreign exchange and international payments with a strong interest in online retailing and globalisation. Whilst engaging with customers, you may also come across marketing, referral and partnership opportunities all of which could contribute to your sales success.

The E-commerce team has an excellent suite of products and services for online sellers actively involved in Cross Border Selling. We have invested heavily in technology and combined this with online and offline brand development. This has enhanced the perception of the business both with customers directly and with industry multipliers and partners.

About you

You are an ambitious and motivated sales professional who is motivated by success and keen to further develop your business development skills whilst getting exposure to the exciting world of online retail. You have demonstrable experience in new business development into German speaking SMEs and are highly competent at creating financial services revenue from this channel. You will be naturally effective at building relationships and creating influence over the phone, face to face, through networking, social media and attendance at events when required

Key competencies

  • Excellent written and spoken German (mother tongue)
  • Resourceful, articulate and action orientated and able to deliver business results
  • Knowledge and experience of International Online Selling and deliverable foreign exchange is a strong advantage
  • Ideally degree educated and proficient in Word, Excel, Powerpoint and CRM (Salesforce)

Key accountabilities

  • Meet an individual new business target of £125k per annum
  • Comply with Key Performance Indicators related to activity and quality ratios.
  • Adhere to regulatory requirements and act professionally, ethically and with integrity at all times
  • Provide all customers with a unique, excellent first point of contact experience and effectively demonstrate the appropriate products and services
  • Provide senior management with feedback and reporting on pipelines and sales initiatives.
