Operations Manager

Due to continued growth & investment, my client, an established global world class manufacturer are looking to recruit an experienced, passionate & driven Operations Manager.

Reporting to the Managing Director & Global Operations Director, you will be a key part of the Senior Management Team.

AS Operations Manager will be tasked with managing the complete site operations and play an integral part in driving the UK plant as a global centre of excellence and innovation.

Purpose of Role:

The main objective of this role is to manage & develop the Operations functions whilst establishing effective communications with the relevant functions at other sites overseas.

You will work on revising and implementing processes to make them as efficient as possible.

The Operations Manager will set up the Continuous Improvement program for the total manufacturing site.

You will therefore be able to demonstrate good structure & leadership to coach and lead the Operations team and be able to contribute to the product realisation.

To be successful you will be a driven and passionate, results orientated leader with proven success of leading cross-functional teams.

The Successful Candidate will have:

* Several years' experience of Operations Management in a global Engineering/Manufacturing environment
* Production & Assembly Management in either Polymers OR Mechanical based products
* Proven track record in a world class manufacturing environment
* Lean knowledge & implementation (5s)

* Proven Leadership & Management Skills
* Proven success in leading continuous improvement programs
* Ability to drive operational excellence results by fostering an environment of openness and teamwork - "open door attitude"
* Ability to be able to communicate effectively to all levels of the business
* A strategic thinker/problem solver with a tactical approach who can effectively interface with employees at all levels of the organization

* Sound working knowledge of Production Management, Health & Safety, Environmental Requirements & Control within a production environment
* Working knowledge of ERP system - preferably SAP
* Be able to travel UK and Abroad as required

Responsibilities Overview:

* Build a high performing inclusive Operations team that produce and deliver quality products, on time, to customer expectations
* Set and be accountable for KPI's being met
* Review current processes & controls and make recommendations to improve
* Provide leadership through the use of Continuous Improvement & Lean tools
* Managing, recruiting, training, counselling of employees as required.
* Work with direct reports to drive cultural change toward rapid process improvement and process ownership
* Develops and manages the departmental budget
* Lead the team to improve, automate, and streamline current operations procedures
* Determines capital and expense requirements to maintain manufacturing objectives and provide return on investment.
* Prepare Annual Capital and Expense Budget appropriation requests for all machinery, equipment and building repair items
* Direct the warehouse team through annual inventory / stock takes
* Create, manage & lead teams to produce and deliver quality products to customer expectations and establish processes & controls.
* Work with direct reports to drive cultural change towards rapid process improvement and process ownership
* Develop and manage the departmental budget / Manage CAPEX
* Lead to improve, automate and streamline current operation procedures to maximise the contribution to the (AOP) and longer term business goals.
* Direct preparation of cost control reports, cost estimates, manpower & facilities requirement forecasts.
