Our client specialise in design and manufacturing advanced and modern electronic equipment (air, sea and land) in the defence sector. They're an international organisation who are extremely successful and are continuously expanding.

We are currently seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join a world class and dynamic team based in Stevenage.

Your key responsibilities include the following:

* You will undertake all necessary activities in the Mechanical design development of Missile concepts within the early phase of the product life cycle but will have opportunity to contribute to all design phases.
* Undertake Work Package Management activities (design cycle scheduling, budgeting and resource profiling) for assigned projects to ensure delivery on time, on cost, on quality.
* Manage interfaces between internal customers, suppliers and subcontractors
* Ensure that Mechanical Engineering processes and procedures are followed with compliance to the company Product Life Cycle requirements

Knowledge, Qualification and Experience Required

* Ideally a recognised higher level qualification in Mechanical Design, plus relevant engineering experience in Mechanical design and development using appropriate engineering tools and techniques.
* High level of capability in the use of industry standard 3D CAD packages such as PTC Creo, CATIA, PRO Engineer etc
* Experience of operating in an environment employing development techniques such as FMEA, DFA, DFM etc
* Experience of developing manufacturing tooling, mechanical handling equipment or transport packaging.
* Ability to understand the customer needs to develop a design solution
* Capability to operate in an environment of rapidly changing requirements.
* Ability to define, re-engineer and review processes.
* Good commercial and financial understanding
