Electronics Technician/Junior Engineer

Our client is a well established instrument manufacturer and they are looking for a Technician / Junior Engineer to work in the Development Engineering Department responsible for assisting engineers with the development of electronics products.

Job Description

Assembly of prototype electronics printed circuit boards including Surface Mount Technology. Manufacture of Test boxes including basic mechanical assembly work (drilling, filing etc.)
Commissioning of prototype PCBs and Test Boxes during assembly such as checking power rails are correct. Point to point wiring checks, basic operation of switches etc.
Able to use standard electronics test equipment
Ordering and management of parts for prototype assemblies.
Checking prototype Bills of Materials
To perform at the Junior Engineer level, it is necessary to be willing and able to do all of the above and in addition there will be opportunities to do some basic design, assist in engineering investigations and develop the role further.

Other Duties

You will be expected to carry out other duties as required that are commensurate with your position in the company and your skill level.
You are responsible for working within the company Health and Safety Guidelines at all times to ensure that all activities and processes are carried out in accordance with all relevant applicable Health & Safety Legislation.

Person Specification

Essential:
ONC in Electronics (Technician level)
Can show previous experience in a similar role for the Technician part or be able to demonstrate good practical skills
Good soldering skills and attention to detail.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Good level of PC literacy.

Desirable:
HNC or better (Junior Engineer level)
Some experience of using Surface Mount machines to assemble prototype electronics. This includes recognition of components.

£23K - £28K d.o.e.
