Supplier Quality Assurance Manager / Technical Manager – Bakery
Location: West London with travel
Salary:£50-63,000 + benefits

The supplier quality assurance manager (bakery & impulse) contributes to the organisations success by developing, implementing and monitoring the supplier quality strategy and programs to ensure the continuous supply of safe, wholesome and premium quality bakery products to customers.

The role:
Contributing to the development of department mission, strategy, programs, and operating budget
Collaborating with Operations, Category, Supply Chain and other cross-functional teams to identify opportunities and implement solutions to assure that suppliers and distributors meet Company Standards and local regulations
Using auditing data to identify risks and opportunities for improvement for each supplier in category.
Reviewing and reporting results to the regional leadership team and determining proactive and remedial actions needed to drive improvement.
Developing, implementing, managing and monitoring an integrated program to assure that quality, safety and regulatory compliance standards are met for bakery & impulse items manufactured, distributed and sold by the retailer
Providing expert Quality Assurance support to the EMEA region, communicating technical information between EMEA and the US based Global Quality and Regulatory teams
Providing support for achieving compliance to company requirements
Ensuring compliance to food safety management systems and the Company requirements for all existing and new suppliers and distributors in the region
Managing the relationship with the different service providers used by the supplier QA team and ensuring key performance indicators are tracked and meet business expectations
Ensuring the implementation of the Quality Management Systems requirements for product QA and manages the execution of the different IT tools used by the product QA team
Staying current on regulatory changes in the area of food and food safety in the region
Proactively communicating and responding to emerging requirements and ensuring that markets implement changes needed to assure continuous regulatory compliance
Promoting a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results

The person:
Bachelor or Master’s degree, preferably in food sciences, food process engineering or appropriate biological sciences.
Strong Bakery Technical Management experience either in Retail, Hospitality or Contract Manufacturing
Strong understanding of food manufacturing, flour and bakery industry including Food GMPs, SOPs, HACCP/Food Safety, auditing and inspections.
Knowledge of food processing technology, ingredient functionality, microbiology and food safety.
Good knowledge and understanding of GFSI recognized schemes and other food safety management systems.
Ability to analyse complex data, draw conclusions and make recommendations, assimilate new information quickly and react positively to new and challenging opportunities.
Ability to apply sound technical principles to root cause analyses, problem solving and project management;
Ability to organise collection of data, analyse information and capture conclusions and to solve vendor quality problems through data, processes and influencing skills.
Ability to articulate and sell quality assurance programs and continuous improvement goals to suppliers, communicate effectively with supplier management team, internal customers and peers as well as external service providers.
Ability to make progress in spite of setbacks or lack of clarity.
Ability to multitask, be detail oriented and to remain calm under pressure.
Ability to operate autonomous and effectively in a fast-changing environment.
Ability to influence others.
Being able to work in a multi-cultural, dynamic environment.
Willingness to travel with some overnight stays
Excellent command of the English language; a 2nd language of the EMEA region would be an advantage but not essential
Result and solution driven approach to work.
Familiarity with EU food regulations and EFSA.
Familiarity with product regulations, food and non-food product safety, product labelling and nutrition science.
