Brook Street has been chosen as a recruitment partner to central government and the public sector to hire temporary admin and clerical workers for departments across the UK.
If you`re a skilled administrator looking for a step-up, we are currently recruiting on behalf of a local government department for a Higher Executive Officer (HEO) in Central London. This is an ongoing, long-term temporary assignment, working (Monday to Friday/9-5/37 hours) and many of these opportunities offer a significant pay increase on completion of 12 weeks in the same department.

This is a busy team and we are looking for someone who can hit the ground running with minimal training. We would like someone with:

- good drafting skills, with previous experience of working in a policy team, advising Ministers/senior officials through written briefing/submissions

- experience of drafting Ministerial and treat official correspondence

- excellent communication/stakeholder management skills as the post holder will have regular contact with our independent scrutiny bodies, colleagues across MoJ and in OGDs.

- excellent planning and secretariat skills

- management experience (of one band D member of staff)

- knowledge of the Criminal Justice System is desirable but not essential.

The post holder should be familiar with MS Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

The initial assumption is that this will be a 6 month post. We will be recruiting a permanent Band C to take over and if we secure the person in less than 6 months, we will either release the agency representative to another business area or end their contract.


Minimum of 35 days holiday (pro rata) following 12 consecutive weeks in the same department

Typical qualifications and experience required:

Five GCSE passes at Grade C or above

Two `A` level passes at grade E or above or equivalent

NVQ Management Level 3 or 4 (or suitable management experience)

Good knowledge of and experience in using Microsoft Office

Management experience in an office environment

Excellent communication skills both oral and written

*A clear basic DS security check is required. This will cost £26 and is refundable after 4 weeks in employment through Brook Street.
