Thorne and Wait are currently looking to appoint a Network and Infrastructure Specialist to join the Information Systems department with our busy Oxfordshire based client. This role covers the implementation, management, maintenance and support of all network infrastructure, security systems and Linux based systems and offers the chance to become the authority on these subjects.

Core Responsibilities include:
 Supporting all network and security infrastructure (LAN/WAN/Firewalls etc.)
 Supporting Linux based systems, including license servers and HPC environments, both hardware and software.
 Day-to-day maintenance and operation of the above.
 Implementation of any new systems related to these areas.
 Continual improvement of the systems based on changing demands.
 Liaising with various departments within the Team.
 Coordinating with 3rd party suppliers and partners to support, maintain and implement these systems.

Core Technical skills required include:
In-depth skills in network service monitoring and troubleshooting.
Strong recent experience in use and installation of Juniper networking equipment (SRX, MAG, RingMaster, Pulse, Junos Space etc.).
Working knowledge of a wide range of datacentre technologies including: LAN, WAN, NAS and/or SAN storage. Linux, firewalls and VPNs, network services such as TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP.
At least 3 years’ experience in network administration, protocols, network security, intrusion detection, troubleshooting, switching, routing and datacentres.
At least 3 years’ experience with Linux administration, implementation and support.

Some knowledge or experience of HPC systems, job scheduling, performance tuning and HPC hardware would be advantageous.

This role requires a high level of commitment and the ability to work individually and as part of the wider department, providing a pro-active and efficient service to the Team. Very good communication and organisation skills are essential
