Civil Engineer- Water & Utilities

Location: Based near Andover

Salary: Up to £35k plus car and excellent benefits

Our Client: Is part of a joint venture which designs and lays all water, wastewater, gas and electricity pipes and cables to the modern, high quality, fully serviced and purpose built living and working accommodation that is being built for the Army.

The Role: Support and coordinate the delivery of projects within the programmes arising from the Army Basing Programme, other Army infrastructure initiatives and the wider South Region as required.

These projects will comprise foul, potable and surface water infrastructure design and construction.

Defining the scope of works, costing, designing, working with others and delivering to tight timescales are some of the key attributes required.

This role is essential in supporting our client's project managers.

The existing water and wastewater infrastructure comprises 355km of water mains, 295km of foul sewers and 283km of surface water sewers. Existing water mains will be reinforced, sewers improved and new connections made to the buildings that will be constructed.

Duties: Work with the Project Manager to facilitate the delivery of water and wastewater projects including sewer diversions, new connections, foul sewers and surface water mains. This is to be achieved within a culture where Health and Safety is of paramount importance.

The projects are to be delivered within the cost, time and quality constraints determined by the business. This will be achieved by liaising with the Construction and Design Managers and other members of the Project Delivery Group.

This will include reviewing requirements documents from the Client, assisting with estimating costs and monitoring progress.

Maintaining contractual relationship with the Client and others.

Planning delivery of projects in conjunction with the RFQ Project Controller and the Construction Manager.

Managing Risk.

Work with design consultants to ensure the designs meet the brief.


Essential: Qualification in Construction/Civil Engineering related discipline

Experience in design or site engineering or project management

Good knowledge of the CDM Regulations 2015

Negotiation skills


Strong interpersonal skills

Relevant CSCS card

Desirable: APMP or similar

Commercial experience, including contract management

Experience of managing a programme of projects
