Brief Outline:

Junior Quantity Surveyor Required - Drylining/Ceilings/Partitions - £20k to £30k - Bristol.

About the Client:

Well established Drylining/Ceilings contractor with a T/O of around £15M are looking for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join the team due to expansion. They specialise in Metal Stud Partitioning, Drylining, Plastering, Suspended Ceilings and Light Weight Steel Frame structures in sectors such as Healthcare, Residential and Commercial covering the South West and South Wales.

About the Role:

* Assisting with preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client;
* Undertaking cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work;
* Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies;
* Performing risk, value management and cost control;
* Advising on procurement strategy;
* Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks;
* Preparing and analysing costings for tenders;
* Allocating work to subcontractors;
* Providing advice on contractual claims;
* Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports;
* Valuing completed work and arranging payments;
* Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use;
* Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations.

About the Candidate:

* Commercially astute, numerate, risk averse & able to accurately forecast cost & sales
* Multi-tasking, self-motivated, energetic team player with a flexible and adaptable approach to work
* Must have worked on major projects
* Have good practical organisation skills, planning of resources and programme scheduling
* Degree Qualified would be advantageous
* At least one year working as a Junior Quantity Surveyor within a * Drylining/Ceilings contractor
* Be able to provide both summarised and detailed reports, on current activities. Prioritise and organise, taking a methodical approach
* Self-motivated, enthusiastic with a high standard of personal performance
* Flexible and reliable
* Present information clearly, concisely and professionally
* Attention to detail
* Customer focused
* Communicator & motivator with ability to communicate across all levels of seniority from the workface through to Senior Management level
* 'Can do' attitude to work
* Practical and logical qualities and a methodical way of thinking;
* A creative and innovative approach to problem-solving;
* Strong numeracy and financial management skills and the ability to learn sophisticated design and costing IT packages;
* The ability to write clear and precise reports and to relate complex information in a simple way to a diverse range of people;
* Negotiating and team-working skills and the ability to motivate and lead those on site;
* Detailed knowledge of past and current building and construction technology, processes, materials, business and legal matters.
