IDEALLY YOU ALSO HAVE: Minimum 5 years experience in industrial C&I systems



In Service Inspection C&I Engineer


The In Service Inspection (ISI) Team at Torness are responsible for the internal inspection of the two nuclear reactors during planned periodic shut downs. The team are responsible for planning the inspection program, maintaining the specialist inspection equipment and deploying resources to carry out the inspections.

Line Management

Reporting to the Lead ISI Engineer in the Fuel Route Department

Primary responsibilities

* Ensure that all ISI equipment maintenance is carried out to a high standard, in conjunction with station or contract support.
* Carry out fault finding on ISI equipment.
* In conjunction with the rest of the ISI team, specify and carry out C&I modifications to ISI equipment.
* Develop C&I maintenance practices and procedures.
* Carry out the role of inspection manipulator operator/controller during station outages.
* Assist in the outage planning process.
* Support other ISI activates as directed by the Lead ISI engineer.

Essential Skills and Experience

* HNC or equivalent in Control and Instrumentation or related subject, or equivalent level of experience
* Minimum 5 years experience in industrial C&I systems.
* Ability to work with limited supervision and make technical decisions within areas of knowledge.
* Ability to work flexibly and support areas outside core skills.
* Able to develop effective working relationships with staff and contractors outside the ISI team.

Desirable Skills and Experience

* Experience within the nuclear industry
* Experience with camera inspection systems

Other Information

* The role requires extended working during reactor outages with some night shift work. This will normally be for a period of up to 6 weeks every 18 months.
* The role may also include supporting Heysham 2 power station in Lancaster which will involve working away from base for up to 4 weeks every 18 months
* The candidate will need to undertake the Counter Terrorism Check vetting process.
* The candidate may need to become a classified person under The Licensed Radiation Regulations.
