IT Technician (1st Line/2nd Line) - Chatham, Kent - £20,000 to £22,000 - July 2017 Start

My client who has just promoted the 3rd member of staff this year in the IT team is looking to fill their place with an excellent 1st/2nd Line hands on Support Technician. This is a rare opportunity to join a very successful company who really look after their staff and have an excellent culture and working environment.

Day to day duties will include IT project work, desktop and laptop builds, mobile configuration, desk side support, servers support, network troubleshooting, software and hardware upgrades etc.

Daily duties

  • Provide 1st/2nd line support (hands on only) to all internal staff at their desk
  • Record and report all issues that are logged
  • provide backup monitoring and tape rotation on Windows and AS400, ensuring that tapes are sent off site and recorded accurately to an agreed deadline
  • Ensure that the terms of agreed IT service level agreements are adhered to
  • Maintain the companies software and hardware asset register ensuring that acquisitions and disposals are registered and that records are accurate
  • Assist with all technical support queries and small projects which includes new and old additions moves and IT changes
  • Monitoring the companies Network Monitoring System and to escalate any issues where necessary
  • Perform out of hours support when required (rare)

Skills required - Essential

  • 2+ years admin on Active Directory (new users, group policy and passwords resets etc)
  • Thorough understanding of Windows operating systems
  • Basic network concepts knowledge
  • Ability to troubleshoot and build PC's and laptops
  • Hold a recent qualification in the following - COMP TIA A+, MCP's, MTA's or any networking certifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team with 6 other IT Technicians and other IT management staff

Working hours: Monday to Friday - 9am to 5pm
