Business Development Manager, Global Position, Navigation & Timing - PNT

London & worldwide

£80k - £85k + bonus to bring package up to 100k for the right person

Business Development Manager with strong sales background required to join a global engineering and manufacturing company specialising in Marine Navigation Systems. Driving both geographical areas and sales. This is a very exciting NASDAQ business who have demonstrated robust growth and require an experienced Business Development Manager to support 3 other regional Sales Managers with Position Navigation and Timing.

The vacancy requires a strong closer who is happy to travel globally. The Business Development Manager will assist and report to the VP of Global Sales. This is a low volume high value product. As such, requires the applicant to have the ability to manage a long and complex sales cycle and where possible see opportunities to up-sell.

Responsibilities include:

* Report to the VP of Global Sales for the division
* Report to other group Directors and Sales team where necessary & challenge on pricing and strategy to ensure the most successful outcome of sales
* Manage the UK Sales team
* Analysis, pricing and optimising the product line
* Drive leads and sales within the UK region and beyond
* Travel to global customer sites as necessary - this role requires a high proportion of travel
* Negotiation of client terms and conditions
* Developing long term relationships
* Develop new market areas
* Aligning bids to ensure smooth delivery of product to client
* Ability to convey complex engineering solutions across a range of departments and end clients
* Managing multiple sales cycles and projects concurrently
* Managing a long sales cycle on some of the deliveries.

Requirements:

* Degree educated, preferably in physics, mathematics, engineering, chemistry or other science based subjects
* Marine Navigation Systems background, PNT
* Minimum 7yrs commercial experience as a sales director / manager or business development manager. Within a Marine / Navigation / Naval / Maritime environment
* Ability to see through full 360 sales cycle with delivery and implementation of product
* International sales experience
* Excellent written and presentation skills.
* Superb report writing and ability to grasp tech specs
* Relay to relevant engineers in the sales chain
* Evidence of achievements in business development and sales
* Selling management technique such as Miller Heiman or similar

Person Specification:

Further education such as MBA useful but not essential. Any language skills in addition to English beneficial (Spanish, French & Mandarin in particular).
