A Local Authority in South West London is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a three month contract.

Purpose of the job:
* To provide Quantity Surveying and Cost Consultancy to the Change Project Team throughout the course of scoping, design, value engineering, rebuilding and remodelling projects, ensuring these projects are completed on time and within budget.
* To provide expert advice to the Change Project Team and project stakeholders regarding the cost implications of various options and to advice on project scope and methodology.

Your duties will include:

* You will be liaising with the Principal Contract Administrator to prepare contract documents, process monthly invoices and prepare cost reports and contract valuation certificates.
* You will be liaising directly with contractors on cost matters as directed by the Programme Manager (Corporate) developing and maintaining effective relationships with them whilst ensuring best value for money.
* You will be responsible for the cost consultancy for projects undertaken by the Change Project Team.
* You will be managing projects within budget and to agreed programme and quality standards.
* You will be responsible for the deployment of recognised, appropriate and robust project management techniques, including:
1. Utilising the organisations preferred project management software (VERTO Cloud) to assess and record project progress and reporting.
* You will be responsible for contract documentation and procurement including pre-qualification and selection of contractors and preparation of Employers Requirements.
* You will also be responsible for preparation and sign off of financial aspects of tender reports.
* You will be leading on the financial analysis and financial appraisal of tenders and quotations, including refinement of construction methodology and the contractors' proposals in order to achieve the best outcomes.
* You will be negotiating with contractors including analysis of loss and expense claims and claims for extensions of time.
* You will be reporting any forecast overspends promptly to the Programme Manager, explaining the reasons and making proposals for value engineering.
* You will be carrying out site visits as necessary including to construction sites.

* RICS Qualified.
* Ability to make technical decisions based on sound principle and precedent, frequently under pressure form clients and contractors.
