A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a professional individual to join a well-established and growing specialist manufacturer.

As the Technical Author you will manage the Document Portfolio process from start to completion including:

* Writing, creating illustrations and creating PDFs (Solidworks Composer is preferable.)
* Working/liaising with production and technical engineers.
* Updating current O+M document
* Creating User guides

Description of the Role

* Writing the user instruction booklet with product sample as reference point.
* Working with legal and technical engineers to ensure latest legislation is implemented and product information is accurate.
* Creating any required illustrations.
* Creating the artwork PDF.
* Co-ordinate projects ensuring times and quality targets are met.
* Manage all documentation.
* Working closely with technical and product managers co-manage updates to existing instruction booklets when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

* Prepare and edit technical engineering documents including; Manuals, Commissioning Procedures, Product Datasheets and Manufacturers Data Books.
* Carry out quality checks to ensure technical documents are of a high standard.
* Effectively and efficiently manage a busy workload to meet strict deadlines and keep projects on schedule.
* Communicate effectively with colleagues.

The Candidate

* Experience of working in a documentation engineering or technical authoring environment.
* Preferably have a Mechanical Engineering background, or Electrical Engineering could suffice.
* A good knowledge of Microsoft and Adobe products including Word, Excel, Acrobat and Project.
* Familiarity with Documentation Control Systems.
* Familiarity with engineering documentation and the ability to understand P&IDs and CAD drawings.

* Commercial awareness: You will have an appreciation of the importance to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
* Positive, can do attitude with a commitment to getting the job done.

The ideal candidate would have strong service, CAD and communication skills.

Liaise with customers and provide feedback to the R&D Team regards product design, installation procedures and functionality of the product when it is out in the field.
