Our client is a new academy with a focus on music. In September we will have five year groups in the secondary school and three in the primary.
Our client will inevitably undergo rapid growth and development as additional year groups are recruited. This will lead to subsequent changes and development of all job descriptions as additional staff are employed. This is a fantastic opportunity with exciting possibilities for future career development. The position is likely to suit an individual who has previously worked in an education institution but candidates who are not are welcome to apply. This is a permanent position offering a benefits package (Including pension scheme) and career progression, all within a brand new building in central London.

Day in the life, core values

As an Apprentice IT Technician, your job includes:
Tech Support

- Providing hardware support of Apple Macbooks, Imacs and Chromebooks
- Assisting staff and students with technical issues. Apple Mac admin (User queries, crashes, rebuilds.
- Accurately logging and maintaining all support queries
- Communicate professionally with the client throughout the issue resolution process
- Ensure that problems are resolved within an adequate timescale
- Turning on digital signage and display for assemblies
- Check and maintain printer toners levels.
- Troubleshooting and resolving photocopier jams
- Ordering new screens, repairing and replacing broken Chromebook screens and other parts if possible.
- Report compiling (Print cost reports, Web user reports, website traffic reports)
- Liaising with 3rd party suppliers like Apple, HP, Google.
- Assign unresolved product problems to specialist third party support.
- Carrying out installations and upgrades
- Chromebook trolley management- Performing audits.
- Monitoring CCTV
- Creating smart cards for photocopying/access.

Network

- Working with ISPs,
- Working with firewalls
- Working with routers and network switches.
- DNS, DHCP, LAN
- Working with Wi-Fi access points
- Diagnosing Wi-Fi issues.
- Working with Mac Servers

Website

- Website Admin including, html, and Wordpress
- Checking website consistency of HNS and HNPS
- Publishing Weekly Newsletter
- Checking website consistency Using Google analytics to analyse the website data and make improvements to the viewers experiences on the website

What experience and skills do I need?
You don`t need loads of professional experience in IT. However, you`ll need at least five GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above including Maths, English and IT / Science.

We`re looking for an IT-enthusiast with:

- Experience within the following platforms: Google OS, Mac OSX, and Windows.
- Knowledge of Google Apps and MS Office Applications
- Experience of working with Firewalls, Web filtering.
- Experience with projectors, screens, printers and photocopiers
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Docs and Photo editing software.
- Knowledge of Mac Servers
- Knowledge of specialist music software (Logic Pro etc.)
