SYSTEMS SAFETY ENGINEER - FAREHAM - PERMANENT SALARY DOE

My Client is a market leading manufacturer of Avionic products for both military and civil applications. Due to a number of large project wins they are looking to add a Systems Safety Engineer to the team based on their Fareham site.

Purpose:
To provide technical subject matter expertise and leadership to support optimisation of systems and equipment reliability, maintainability and safety parameters.
To provide support to Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) to ensure that systems that meet their safety objectives, that are reliable and which require minimum expenditure to support throughout its operational life.

Core Responsibilities:
Take a lead role in developing the processes used for system safety in accordance with ARP4754 and ARP4761. Bringing knowledge from previous experience and using this to develop state-of-the-art processes for RM&S workflow.
Conduct technical safety work to support equipment-level airborne electronics equipment with a detailed knowledge the following skill sets: Reliability, Maintainability and Safety & Testability.
Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Safety for the engineering department, acting as the technical authority and to technically mentor less experienced members of IPTs.
Prepare and review documentation including the following: Reliability documentation, FMECAs, Provisioning (spares) documentation, Failure Catalogues, Testability documentation, Flight Safety Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Hazard Analysis, System Safety Analysis and Maintainability Analysis..
Be able to review and understand external Technical Specifications as they apply to Reliability, Safety and Maintainability contractual requirements

Key skills and competencies required:
IEng/CEng accredited University degree in Aerospace Technology / Systems / Aeronautical / Electrical Engineering or other relevant technical discipline with a strong Aerospace and/or Electrical Engineering content. Relevant industrial experience can be considered also.
Experience of safety analysis in the aerospace sector or proven experience in any other 'safety-critical' safety role.
Expertise with RM&S standards, e.g. MIL-HDBK, DEF-STAN and MIL-STAN, ARP4754A and ARP4761.
Good planning, organisational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, oral and written communication skills.
Good knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering principles.
A strong knowledge of aircraft electronics systems and equipment.
Good understanding of Aircraft Systems development.
