Working for a well-established organisation you will be responsible for the Support given primarily on physical and virtual server hardware. However, the role will include the installation, configuration and operational management of a large number of diverse and complex computer systems dispersed geographically throughout the county including clinical information databases, patient record systems, e-mail, internet and printing services.

Role and responsibilities:

* Proactively manage support requests from clients and supporting organisations within operational guidelines, providing support and guidance to Service Desk Operators and assistance to colleagues within the wider IT department.

* Responsible for the installation, setup, repair, maintenance and configuration of a variety of complex, integrated computer systems e.g., servers, multi-function devices, printers, Blackberry's and Networks. Requiring the application of wide range of in-depth Specialist knowledge, experience and specialist training in Information Management & Technology (IM&T) systems.

* Responsible for the operational management of all IM&T systems, (including critical clinical and patient record systems) within the corporate estate to maintain continuity of service to clients while providing security, integrity and privacy of all data.

* Responsible for the management of all Service Calls assigned to them through the Service Management system. Ensuring that the status and history of Service Calls are monitored, up dated and closed on completion and that Service Level Agreements are adhered to.

* Participate in hardware and software deployments as per the BHFT capital plan, working to a fixed work-plan as designated by the governing Project team.

* Responsible as lead IT contact for designated sites or services to take responsibility for communication to clients including complicated, difficult to explain IM&T issues, specialist training and co-ordination of third party support.

* Ensure all site procedures are known and followed accordingly as a representative of the IT department and that a high level of professionalism and working standards are maintained.

* Ensure that all IM&T policies and procedures are implemented and propose changes to and document new procedures, self-help user guides to improve the quality of service.

* Responsible for the proper and safe use of IT equipment by users and that compliance to Health and Safety guidelines and Trust Policies is absolute.

* Responsible for the maintenance and repair of any item of IT supported hardware which will require use of IT specialised tools and advanced keyboard use to diagnose, repair or replace components. This responsibility will also include the co-ordination of 3rd party warranty support contracts; ensuring activity complies with operational procedures.

* Responsible for investigating and analysing complicated problems within systems, often under extreme pressure, identifying and assessing a variety of possible solutions and recommending the best course of action, also implementing the solution with minimum disruption and inconvenience to clients.

* Participating in research and testing of new and existing IT products, making recommendations to clients for upgrades and improvements to new and existing systems.

* Regularly assist in the development and management of the ITIL Release Management Process, ensuring that all software and hardware releases are tested and documented before entering the live environment.

* Support the Systems Team Leader in all aspects of their responsibilities across all service areas and deputise (when required) for them both internally and externally.

* The post holder will assist in the investigation and resolution of standard and non-standard problems across the entire estate. This responsibility includes the documentation of all support solutions to remove any potential points of failure within the department.

* Responsible for providing an active feed into the IT Asset Management Process and for monitoring the use of Trust owned assets within your designated sites. This responsibility also includes the management of the disposal of all redundant equipment on designated sites.

For this role it is essential that you have experience with the following technical skills: Powershell, Windows Server 2008/12 VMWare, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft System Centre, Microsoft SQL and Veeam and have a detailed technical understanding of the theory and practice of server infrastructures including local area network hardware and software components.

You will be required to travel to local sites (Expenses paid) so it is essential that you hold a UK driving license and have access to your own vehicle.

This role is deemed inside of IR35 and will be paying up to £15.62 per hour (PAYE) or £19.34 per hour (Umbrella/Deemed employed) depending on level of experience.
