Salary: Circa £27,000

Location: Central Leeds

Duration: 18 months FTC

Communications Officer required for a fast moving and rapidly developing public sector organisation based conveniently in central Leeds.

The Communications Officer position is an exciting opportunity to gain exposure to a high profile and newly formed public sector organisation. We are looking for a self-motivated and experienced Communications specialist to add value and have an impact within a fast paced communications department.

Key responsibilities of the Communications Officer:

* Provide effective media relations, communications and stakeholder management services for a number of prominent programmes including organising and managing media stakeholder events, responding to stakeholder and media enquiries and providing appropriate responses including news releases.
* Address inaccurate, incomplete or unbalanced comments and media coverage to mitigate potential reputational damage.
* Maximise positive media coverage to promote programme related activities.
* Assist in the development and delivery of creative approaches to publicise the organisation's priorities.
* Produce quality content for a range of channels including press releases and media statements, web copy, brochures, leaflets and posters, briefing notes and internal communications.
* Develop and maintain web content.
* Work with internal colleagues to coordinate and deliver activity across a range of communications and engagement channels including media relations, e-comms, internal communications, events and stakeholder engagement.

The person:

* The successful Communications Officer will have relevant experience working in a multi-channel communications role and be ideally educated to degree level, equivalent, or possess a recognised media or communications-related qualification.
* You should have ideally worked within a similar role within the public sector and/or not for profit organisation, however this is not essential criteria.
* You should possess excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate with a variety of people at all levels.
