My client specialises in programme management, project management, cost management and consulting across the property, infrastructure and natural resources sectors globally. They are now seeking an experienced Cost Manager - MRICS to join their team of infrastructure experts in the Midlands, working on high profile rail and defining highways projects.

The Role:

The successful Cost Manager will be responsible for articulating the requirements of the programme and entering negotiations with the third parties on the terms of agreements with them ensuring all agreements are executed. They will assist the project team within the department, ensuring the protection of the contractual and financial obligations related to the client and programme.

Responsibilities:

•Commissions are managed to the right quality standards and are completed efficiently on time.
•Margin levels and monthly fee/resource forecasts are tracked on all commissions.
•The preparation of Cost Management reports for all asset classes related to rail projects in the Midlands/UK.
•Assist the Associate Director in developing new business opportunities with existing and new clients.
•Collaborate with Directors to construct proposals for new work or variations for existing projects.
•Liaise with the client and other consultants at all project stages.
•Identify opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates and products referring ideas to the relevant Director.
•Ensure Key information and learning generated from each commission is inputted into the internal database and shared.
•Identify and act upon ways to improve internal systems and processes.
•Manage, estimate and cost plan activities.
•Staff management – inputting into formal management of cost management team to include recruitment interviews.
•Preparation/Quantification of cost plan reports including measurement of detailed quantities and unit pricing.
•Pre-and Post-contract cost management.
•Value engineering and life cycle costing.
•Manage and provide direction to junior/intermediate staff.
•Build strong relationships with clients and cross-functional team members both regionally and nationally.
•Ensure key information and data is effectively shared and appropriately retained.

Requirements:

•Minimum 5+ years’ post qualification experience.
•Strong working knowledge gained within the rail and construction industry
•RICS full membership or working to obtain membership within a relevant discipline/organization.
•Must have good ability to negotiate.
•Main/Leading contractor or consultancy experience preferred.
•Degree in Quantity Surveying/Building Surveying preferred or similar discipline preferred.

This is a negotiable salary between £45k - £60k + package including a company car/car allowance.
